For the past 10 years, the Delaware River has been a constant source of inspiration for me. As an artist, capturing the light on the river and the surrounding hills, trees, villages and bridges, is a challenge. I walk across the New Hope/Lambertville Bridge almost every morning and afternoon. Every walk across, the river has a new story to tell. Sometimes it races by, in a rush to reach the ocean. Other times it sits quiet and still, reflecting the sky, as if in meditation. The Delaware is a powerful force; it can be fierce, but also friendly. Protected from strong currents by spits of land, I found places where I can float and swim in its clear, shallow waters. Early morning kayak trips carry me to hidden islands and inlets. Sightings of eagles and herons are common.
The Delaware River - full of history, mystery, adventure and beauty - is a gift to all who experience her. I am honored to be a part of the Delaware River Means Campaign.
